These are the LA County businesses and landmarks destroyed by fires in Eaton and Palisades – Daily News

Wildfires sparked by the worst storm in a decade have swept through Southern California, causing widespread destruction and misery.

In the Pacific Palisades and Malibu, the Palisades Fire destroyed more than 1,000 buildings. In the San Gabriel Valley, hundreds of structures were damaged or destroyed by the Eaton Fire, with the communities of Altadena and Sierra Madre particularly affected. In every area, the fires have decimated communities.

On Tuesday, January 7, three dangerous and fast-spreading wildfires broke out in Los Angeles County. The flames were driven by a dynamic Santa Ana storm with strong gusts of 40 to 80 mph, worst in the foothills and mountain areas.

Below are landmarks, businesses, schools and other notable structures that we have confirmed were damaged or destroyed by the fires. We will update this list as we learn more.

Eaton Fire

Fox’s RestaurantAltadena. According to an Instagram post from the restaurant, a 69-year-old’s restaurant was destroyed in the fire.

Five Altadena schools were “significantly damaged” by the Eaton fire, according to a preliminary assessment from Pasadena Unified School District schools. Eliot Arts Magnet School, Aveson Charter School, Loma Alta Elementary School and Noyes Elementary School were damaged by the fire, said Elizabeth Blanco, superintendent of the Pasadena Unified School District. Cholada Thai, Owners Sawai Theprian and her husband Nikorn Sriwichailumpan moved to the United States with the dream of opening a restaurant. According to Malibu Magazine, they have owned the restaurant since 2000.

Gladstone’s was the highest-grossing independent restaurant in the United States in 2009. Former Mayor Dick Riordan owned the restaurant for more than two decades.

Historical business: The owners of the famous Malibu Feed Bin, a pet supply store that opened in 1961 for horse owners and dog lovers, announced that the business was “lost” in the devastating fire, according to The Independent.

Rosenthal wine bar & terrace: Posted on Instagram Story: “Although we lost our tasting room to the fire yesterday, all of our staff are safe.” Photos and videos were also posted, including the remains of the giant blue chairs and yellow table that were in front of the were outside.
