Notre Dame QB returns to Orange Bowl after concussion scare

(This story has been updated with new information).

Notre Dame football finds itself in an early deficit in the first half of the College Football Playoff Orange Bowl semifinal against No. 6 Penn State.

The Irish also had to do without their starting quarterback for a short time. Quarterback Riley Leonard left the game in the final minutes of the first half after the quarterback rush by Penn State defensive players Dvon J-Thomas and Zane Durant sent him to the ground. He then returned at the start of the second half after being declared “asymptomatic”.
