Marvel Rivals Season 1 update patch notes detailing tournament changes and bug fixes

NetEase Games has released patch notes for Marvel Rivals Season 1, detailing all the changes for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | will be revealed to S players when update version 20250110 is released later tonight.

Included in the full overview are mentions of larger additions we knew about, such as new heroes Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, as well as smaller changes, such as a streaming mode feature and more sophisticated graphics and settings options on PC. We’re also now taking our first look at fixing some of the glitches and bugs that players have been experiencing, including a new release feature that can be used if your character accidentally becomes attached to terrain.

The upcoming Marvel Rivals update will also introduce various changes to many of the roster’s heroes. For example, Doctor Strange and Magik have had some “minor inconsistencies in movement abilities” addressed, while Winter Soldier’s ultimate ability now responds more consistently. It’s a list of mostly small adjustments for players across all platforms, designed to ensure everyone enjoys an overall smoother gaming experience. There have also been a number of changes to tournaments, such as an automatic follow function, a faction reporting function and a spectator channel.

“We will continue to closely monitor game bugs and resolve them as quickly as possible,” NetEase added. “We also have another patch with new content in the works!”

The team Detailed hero balance adjustments elsewhereand provides an inventory of all the buffs and nerfs set to shake up the Marvel Rivals meta in Season 1. Highlights include hits against characters like Hela and Hawkeye, while heroes like Moon Knight and Storm enter the new season with some improvements to their damage output. With these changes comes what NetEase calls his Hero Hot Listwhich includes pick and win rate statistics for each of its playable characters.

With his Introducing the Fantastic Four is a story that pits Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against Dracula and his Legion of the Undead. In the first half of the season, players have access to Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, and in the second half of the season they have access to The Thing and The Human Torch. And as if the appearance of Dracula wasn’t enough of a clue, a recent leak suggests it The vampire-hunting Daywalker Blade could make an appearance as a playable character in Season 2.

Rivals, gather together!

1. New content

1.1 All platforms

Heroes and costumes

– Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman join Marvel Rivals!
– New costumes: Mister Fantastic – The Maker; Invisible Woman – Malice!

Maps and modes

– Discover the new Convoy map – Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown.
– Prepare for the exciting arcade mode (Doom Match) and its map (Sanctum Sanctorum): 8-12 players enter the battle, with the top 50% emerging victorious.
– New feature: In Convoy and Convergence, both sides can move on to the next spawn room once the attacking side reaches the current objective.
– Advanced feature: During the loading phase of a quick match, you can now display both sides’ nameplates.

Season & Shop

– Unlock a stunningly shiny new Battle Pass with 10 brand new sets of heroic costumes!
– Embark on the exciting first half of the Midnight Features Season Event!
– Jump into the latest Twitch Drops event with rewards like the Hela – Will of Galacta costume. (Keep an eye on official announcements at specific times)
– We have revised the update times for various in-game content. Starting with Season 1, the unlock time for daily missions, the availability of new items in the shop, and the start time for most events have been adjusted from 7:00 (UTC+0) to 9:00 (UTC+0).
– In addition, we have optimized the mission types and removed some of the more demanding ones.

Ranking

– Introduction of the Celestial Rank, a level above Grand Master and below Eternity, consisting of 3 divisions.
– Rank reset: Based on your last rank in Season 0, ranks will be downgraded by 7 divisions. For example, if you completed Season 0 with Platinum I, your journey to Season 1 begins with Silver II.

Tournaments

– Newly added automatic follow feature for tournament registrations: Faction members can choose to follow the captain on the registration page. When the captain/coach initiates or cancels the registration process, the following members automatically confirm. Please note that once activated, this feature is only effective for the current season.
– New faction reporting feature: Report factions of alleged misconduct in the same tournament within the last 90 days.
– New Spectator Channel: Chat in real time with other rivals while watching the same game.
– While spectating, the target player’s hotkeys and crosshair settings are clearly displayed.
– New settings option: Block all active invitations and faction joining requests.

Generally

– Streaming Mode: New settings have been added in Settings – Social under the social setting that allow streamers to hide their name if necessary (effective locally only; other players in the same game can still see it).

Graphics and settings

– Advanced and optimized graphics settings for improved performance:
· New: Added a new Off option under Anti-Aliasing.
· New: Included a “Performance” option for “Model Detail”.
· New: Added a new “Off” option under “Global Illumination”.
· New: Added a new “Off” option for “Reflection Quality”.
· Optimization: Various parameters adjusted and optimized within the graphics settings.
– Mouse Settings: Under Settings, the Keyboard – Combat category now includes new Mouse Smoothing and Mouse Acceleration settings, allowing for customization as needed.
– Supports Intel® XeSS 2: Experience faster, smoother gameplay with higher image quality with Intel®

2. Corrections and optimizations

2.1 All Platforms

Generally

– Fixed numerous issues related to notifications.
– Various text errors corrected.

Maps and modes

– Fixed several terrain issues that caused characters to get stuck or move to unusual locations. Such issues continue to be monitored and addressed. We’ve also added a “Free” feature: if a character is stuck in the terrain for a certain duration, you can now control them to return to the spawn room.
– Fixed various issues including floating broken objects, collision errors, etc.
– Fixed various map sound issues.
– Fixed an extremely rare issue where overtime could not be triggered or would not end.
– Also fixed an exceptionally rare issue with unusual draw operations.

Heroes

– Fixed minor discrepancies in movement abilities of certain heroes (such as Doctor Strange and Magik) at both low and high frame rates.
– Fixed occasional malfunctions or inability to use Wolverine’s team ability.
– Fixed occasional incorrect reset of Winter Soldier’s ultimate ability.
– Fixed an issue where the Winter Soldier’s ultimate ability would sometimes fail to hit targets within its range.
– Fixed cases where Iron Man’s ultimate would sometimes pass through Hela during her ultimate.
– Fixed occasional sync issues for Venom and Spider-Man after swinging and wall crawling.
– Fixed a situation where Rocket Raccoon, while sitting on Groot’s shoulders, could erratically place Battle Rebirth Beacons (BRB) in unusual locations on the map, trapping teammates after being revived.
– Fixed occasional camera irregularities after Loki transformed into certain characters during his ultimate ability.
– Fixed a visibility issue that could sometimes occur when Adam Warlock/Mantis/Star-Lord in soul form were in the nebula on Wakanda maps and could not see or be seen by others.
– Fixed cases where Squirrel Girl’s ultimate could get stuck on certain terrain.
– Fixed occasional damage loss on Rocket Raccoon’s primary attack.
– Fixed irregularities and occasional errors when exiting Wolverine’s Feral Leap, as well as occasional abnormal behavior.
– Fixed cases where Luna Snow’s ultimate ability would occasionally be unable to heal teammates.
– Fixed occasional audio irregularities that could occur after Jeff the Land Shark was consumed by the ultimate ability.
– Fixed various sound and voice errors in several heroes’ abilities.
– The playback rules for hero ability voices during combat have been optimized to reduce audio confusion.

2.2 Console

– Fixed an issue where, after console matchmaking, teammates on Xbox would incorrectly appear as muted on other platforms, requiring a manual unmute to remove the status bar.
– Fixed cases where on some heroes the auxiliary sight intensity and crosshair sensitivity were not adjusted appropriately when the field of view changed.
– Fixed an issue where certain button settings did not take effect as intended.
– The global focus switching algorithm has been optimized for smoother overall operation.
