NFL draft prospect Kyren Lacy is wanted on involuntary manslaughter charges for his alleged involvement in a fatal hit-and-run

Police in Louisiana have issued an arrest warrant for LSU trustee and NFL draft prospect Kyren Lacy on involuntary manslaughter charges after police say he fled a fatal car crash last month.

Louisiana State Police said in a news release issued Friday that Lacy, 24, was driving “recklessly” on the highway on Dec. 17, passing other cars.

According to police, Lacy “crossed the center line and entered the northbound lane while in a designated passing zone” when a driver of a pickup truck turned into the northbound lane to avoid a head-on collision with Lacy.

The pickup truck’s actions caused the driver of the vehicle immediately behind, a Kia Cadenza, to swerve to avoid colliding with Lacy’s car, but instead the driver collided head-on with another vehicle in the southbound lane.

A passenger in the Kia Cadenza, identified as 78-year-old Herman Hall, was taken to a hospital where he ultimately died, police said.

In addition to being wanted for involuntary manslaughter, Lacy is also facing hit-and-run charges after police say he “drove around the scene and fled” without stopping to render aid or call 911. He is also said to have failed to notify law enforcement authorities of his involvement.

Lacy’s arrest warrant also includes a charge of reckless operation of a vehicle. According to the Louisiana State Police, the former is the case LSU star has been in contact with law enforcement since then.

Lacy transferred to LSU in 2022. This season he caught 58 passes for 866 yards and nine touchdowns. He did not play in LSU’s victory over Baylor in the Texas Bowl on December 31st.

Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft just two days after the crash.

“LSU has truly had a huge impact on my life on and off the field over the last three years. Playing in Death Valley in front of the best fans in the country was an experience I will never forget. Not too many people can meet.” “A dream like this. I am forever grateful,” Lacy wrote in his announcement.

“I would like to express my appreciation to all of my coaches, support staff and trainers for helping me to develop as a football player, but above all as a person. Even though we didn’t achieve our goal of winning a national championship, I promise to carry all of these life lessons with me into the next chapter of my life.”

LSU did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
