Texas’ Quinn Ewers says he’s focused on the College Football Playoff semifinals and not his personal future

Junior quarterback Quinn Ewers will take the field on Jan. 10 when his Texas Longhorns face the Ohio State Buckeyes in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.

Entering this season, Ewers was widely considered a first-round prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft.

As the Longhorns’ pursuit of a national championship remains, Ewers has not yet announced whether he will return to college football or enter the draft

Before Texas’ quarterfinal game against Arizona State in the Peach Bowl last week, multiple reports surfaced that Ewers had received offers of up to $6 million to enter the transfer portal.

Ewers has one year of college eligibility remaining, which opens the door for a possible transfer. Ewers’ departure, whether he makes the jump to the NFL or another college program, would move the highly touted Arch Manning into the role of the Longhorns’ starting quarterback.

On Wednesday, Ewers answered questions about his football future.

“Right now I’m just not worried about any of that stuff,” he replied.

Ewers then made it clear that he was focused on the high-stakes game against the Buckeyes.

“People can say whatever they want to say,” he said. “At this point, I’m just focused on Friday.”

“First of all, I think I would be doing my teammates a disservice if I even thought about what comes next,” Ewers added, before saying it would be “selfish” to make his personal future a priority. considering Texas is in the midst of a playoff run.

Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders are considered the top two quarterbacks in April’s NFL Draft. Should Ewers actually decide to turn pro, he could draw interest from several teams looking to hire a young, talented signal-caller.
