Singer Ethel Cain made a controversial statement.

The 26-year-old indie rock singer, whose real name is Hayden Silas Anhedönia, shared a quote on Instagram and added the message “Kill More CEOs” alongside it. Just a few weeks ago, Luigi Mangione was named as a suspect in the assassination of United HealthCare’s CEO.

The quote says: “Big Oil is buying up Congress. No action on climate. The NRA is buying out Congress. No action against weapons. Insurance companies are buying up Congress. No healthcare measures. The list goes on and on. Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.”

Ethel then added a longer message to explain her thoughts.

She said: “I’m not even trying to be reactionary or ‘edgy’ or saying that shit for shock value, I really mean what I say.” Companies are giggling at her protests. Why would anyone ever voluntarily fall from their throne because of years of building up the suffering of those around them? No one is haunted by the ghost of Christmas future, no one experiences a change of heart. It’s simple: you make them fear for their lives and beat them in the only place they are hurt, otherwise nothing is ever done. I don’t even understand how this is supposed to be an incredibly radical idea. It seems quite simple to me. “Violence is never the answer” is false. sometimes it is like that. -\_( )_/-“

Ethel concluded with the words: “The world is burning and it is very clear who is holding the games.”

The comments come two days after the release of her new album Perverts.
