TJ Watt sends a strong message ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers playoff game

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers playoff game means a lot to everyone in their locker room, but some guys place more value on this game because of their careers. One of those players is TJ Watt, who is looking to change a nagging story after his career in Pittsburgh.

Watt has never won a playoff game in the NFL and was part of the team’s seven-year drought without a postseason win. This year, against the Baltimore Ravens, he wants to change that, and he’s committed to doing so.

“It’s my story,” Watt said. “I haven’t won a playoff game since I’ve been here. I’ve been saying that all season. You know how important this is to me.”

Watt didn’t have any postseason success, but he spent his entire career in Pittsburgh. Therefore, throughout the Steelers’ successful history, he has had a lot of contact with players who are champions and have made it to the Super Bowl.

“I always say there’s a big difference between guys who come back and are Super Bowl champions and guys who aren’t,” Watt said. “That’s not an insult to the guys who aren’t. I’m one of those guys right now. But a man who has won a Super Bowl definitely has an aura and a purpose. There is a camaraderie, a tight-knit group of guys who, when they come back for their alumni weekends, hang out, socialize and talk about their successes on and off the field and the Super Bowl run.”

Watt said even missing last year’s game wasn’t any additional motivation for this game. It’s a different atmosphere in the playoffs and Watt understands exactly what’s at stake against the Ravens.

“You can’t add juice. That’s really not possible,” Watt told Steelers On SI. “If you can’t get up for this game, I don’t know what you’re doing.”
