Select Dunkin’ locations across the US are facing a mysterious donut shortage

Attention donut lovers! There were reportedly recent donut shortages at several Dunkin’ locations in Nebraska.

According to the Associated Press, stores in Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island had no donuts on their shelves on Thursday, Jan. 9, and Friday, Jan. 10.

While I’m talking to him Omaha World-Harold, Bryce Bares, who owns several Dunkin’ franchises in the state, said some of his locations have received substandard products, resulting in donuts not being sold at those locations. He also told the outlet that delivery partners have since fixed the issue and his locations will be selling donuts again soon.

Jack D’Amato, a spokesman for Inspire Brands — the company that acquired Dunkin’ in 2020 and owns several popular restaurant chains across the country — told the AP that the problem stemmed from a single supplier. He pointed out that several other countries were also affected.

According to the AP, local Dunkin’ fans in Omaha weren’t happy about the lack of their usual morning sweets.

“What? No donuts! That’s tragic!” said a local woman as she stopped into a West Omaha Dunkin’ location after a night shift as a phlebotomist on Jan. 10, according to the outlet. “Hopefully they’ll have them soon ” she added.
