After the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 28-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media. A humble Tomlin came to the microphone and was more than ready to swallow his pride and give the Ravens, and especially quarterback Lamar Jackson, all the credit for the team’s success.

To listen to Tomlin, Jackson is something of an NFL unicorn and the Steelers have no answer for him. But before these last two meetings, the Steelers had an answer. Jackson’s mobility and athleticism have not been a deciding factor for Pittsburgh until recently, suggesting that the Steelers were the reason for this loss rather than Jackson’s influence.

Jackson finished the game with 175 passing yards and 81 rushing yards. Jackson threw two scores despite not having wide receiver Zay Flowers.

There’s no doubt that Jackson made it look easy on Saturday night, but for much of the game, the Steelers’ defense didn’t offer much resistance.
