Has “The Carolina Reaper” done it again?

This past Sunday, Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young defeated the Atlanta Falcons, finishing the regular season with 251 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-38 win. He also quickly scored two points, becoming the first quarterback in Panthers history to throw three touchdown passes and two touchdown runs in a single game.

Now, almost a week later, these Falcons have announced that they have parted ways with defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake and defensive line coach Jay Rodgers. So, yes, you know what that means. . .

Lake and Rodgers are the latest victims to meet an unwanted fate in the immediate aftermath of the loss to Young and his Panthers. You join the following people:

  • (Former) New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen: Fired after loss to Panthers in Week 9

  • (Former) New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones: Benched by the Giants after loss to the Panthers in Week 10

  • Arizona Cardinals: Eliminated from playoff contention after losing to the Panthers in Week 16

The Falcons finished a disappointing 2024 season with 345.2 total yards per game, 10th-most in the league. They also registered the second-fewest sacks (31).
