The Spanish National Sports Council (CSD) on Wednesday provisionally allowed La Liga club FC Barcelona to extend the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The decision comes four days after the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga rejected the club’s appeal to register the players.

“The Higher Sports Council (CSD) confirmed this Wednesday the urgent precautionary measure taken by FC Barcelona and the players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor,” said a statement from the CSD.

The CSD said it had reviewed the 52-page appeal and more than 60 documents submitted by the club after its appeal was rejected by the league and national association on January 4.

“This measure, which is provisional until the appeal lodged by the club and the above-mentioned players is finally decided, suspends the agreement of the Supervisory Committee of the RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Agreement of January 4, 2025 and the cancellation of the sports licenses of the above Player. It also maintains the validity of these licenses until this appeal is finally resolved,” it added.

Although two courts rejected Barcelona’s requests, the CSD upheld the club’s appeal, declaring that professional athletes “have the right to a sporting career according to their potential, with guarantees and certainty.”
