A Bay Area Freeze Warning has been issued for much of the region

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for much of the Bay Area, where inland residents could see temperatures drop as low as 32 degrees Tuesday morning.

According to the weather service, the freeze warning has been issued for several inland areas of the East Bay (including Concord and Livermore), the interior valleys of Sonoma and Napa counties, the Santa Clara Valley, the eastern Santa Clara Hills and the interior mountains of Monterey and San counties Benito published.

The warning is in effect on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

A freeze warning is issued when temperatures are expected to fall below 32 degrees, resulting in frost formation and dangerous conditions for sensitive populations, such as: B. unaccommodated people, according to the weather service. Prolonged exposure to such conditions can lead to hypothermia.

Temperatures in Concord and Livermore overnight are expected to reach a low of 36 and 34 degrees, respectively, according to the weather service. Freezing may occur between 4 and 5 a.m. in Concord and after 4 a.m. in Livermore.

The North Bay, Napa and Santa Rosa could see a low of 33 degrees overnight.

The weather service urged people to protect themselves, pets, plants and pipes from the chilly temperatures. The warning was issued as a strong storm system is expected to bring offshore winds to the region from Tuesday and rain will continue through the end of this week.
