A full-grown Godzilla crashes into Fortnite Battle Royale this week

We knew from the start of Chapter 6, Season 1 that we would be getting a Godzilla skin with the Battle Pass in January. But it looks like this collaboration will be a lot bigger than you might have expected. As a much bigger – judging by the short teaser Epic Games just released, there will be a skyscraper-sized Godzilla roaming the battle royale island starting this week.

This isn’t the most shocking news, as a Godzilla-sized Godzilla is pretty logical to expect from a game that has featured kaiju-sized monsters and mechs on the island in the past, but it’s still cool to have the confirmation see.

However, it’s pretty clear that there’s a lot more to this collaboration than we currently know. For one thing, it’s a collaboration with Legendary Pictures for the Monsterverse franchise and last year’s Godzilla x Kong – you can certainly expect there to be both a King Kong skin in the item shop and a big King Kong -Boss on the battle royale island fights Godzilla. And there are plenty of other potential Kaiju from this franchise that could get skins, like Mechagodzilla and the Scar King.

The Godzilla skin will be included in the Chapter 6, Season 1 Battle Pass starting January 17th, but will require a bit of effort to unlock. But unlike previous seasons, you don’t have to complete any specific quests. Instead, Godzilla is unlocked by earning XP in any experience – there’s no need to play Battle Royale at all if you don’t want to.

The timing of Godzilla’s arrival is amusing as this week also brings us Season 7 of the Hatsune Miku-themed Fortnite Festival. Miku famously fought Godzilla in a video from one of Project DIVA’s rhythm games, and so this is a bit of a coincidence pairing.
