A little snow, a lot of cold – Boston news, weather, sports

A few patchy rain/snow showers in the morning, becoming more numerous this afternoon as more moisture moves in. While it won’t be a major storm for us, there may be patches of snow in the late afternoon/evening with regular snow patches as temperatures drop to or below freezing. What we will be paying attention to today is where a coastal front forms. Along and west of that, snowfall rates could be elevated, allowing the best shot of a few inches of snow. This front will move southeast this evening, allowing any showers to transition to some snow in Boston and further down Southeast Mass. All in all, most spots increase in the -2″ plating range. With the onset of cold weather, the snow that falls will not melt much.

The snow will be gone by tomorrow morning and anything else that falls will just be a spotty snow shower or storm. Tomorrow’s highs will struggle to reach freezing and jump into the single digits and low teens tomorrow evening. The wind will also pick up, pushing the wind chill to sub-zero temperatures by Sunday morning.

On Sunday afternoon it will be difficult to get well above 20 °C. Monday will start in the single digits, with afternoon highs returning to the mid 20s as lighter winds prevail.

A few snow showers are possible on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is currently looking seasonal and mostly dry.
