A look at the Chargers’ playoff seeding and opponent scenarios in the Wild Card round

The Chargers are 10-6 and heading to the playoffs.

The bolts have punched their ticket to the dance after defeating the Patriots 40-7 on Saturday.

But who could Jim Harabugh’s team play in the Wild Card round?

Here’s a breakdown of possible seeding and opponent scenarios for the Bolts:

No. 5 seeds

The path here is clear. The Bolts will be the No. 5 seed if the following happens in Week 18:

The Chargers beat the Raiders And The Steelers lose to the Bengals.

That would mean an away playoff game against the Texans, who won the AFC South and are in fourth place.

If the Steelers win in Week 18, the Bolts will be out of the running for fifth place, as Pittsburgh holds the tiebreaker due to its head-to-head win in Week 3.

No. 6 seeds

6th place is the lowest the Chargers can reach.

Since the Broncos lost to the Bengals on Saturday, the Chargers’ ten wins ensure they are at least the sixth seed.

How could things get out of hand?

If Pittsburgh wins, the Steelers would be at least the No. 5 seed and the Bolts would be the No. 6 seed, no matter what the Chargers do in Las Vegas.

If the Bolts finish at No. 6, they would likely play the winner of the AFC North. Right now that would be the Ravens.

But if the Steelers win and the Ravens lose in Week 18, the Chargers would go to Pittsburgh in the Wild Card round.

No. 7 seeds

The Chargers can not Be No. 7 after the Broncos lost to the Bengals on Saturday.

The Bolts are 10-6 and cannot be overtaken by Denver (9-7) as the Bolts retain the tiebreaker.

Other wild card contenders like the Colts and Dolphins can’t get to 10 wins, meaning the Bolts will at least be the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoffs.
