A major winter storm that broke snowfall records in the Midwest is moving east, bringing a heavy mix of snow and ice and knocking out more than 1,300 flights across the United States

Snowfall totals exceeded 30 centimeters in several locations, including Chapman and Topeka, Kansas, where the storm dumped 18 inches and 14 inches, respectively.

Topeka had its biggest snowfall since 1993, as did Kansas City, Missouri, which saw a total of 11 inches so far. The 5 inches of snow that fell in Cincinnati, Ohio on Sunday is the city’s new daily record for January 5th.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where 2 to 4 inches of snow could fall and make roads very slick as temperatures remain at or below freezing.
