A teenager was arrested at a California high school after stabbing him because he was bullied because of his race, according to his mother

A mother claims her 14-year-old son was bullied at Verdugo Hills High School and the attacks allegedly had to do with him being Black.

Despite video evidence, her son’s attackers would not be disciplined, the mother said.

Earlier this month, the high school hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons after a stabbing occurred on campus and the 14-year-old was ultimately arrested.

The mother says all of this could have been avoided if the school had intervened in the previous alleged attacks.

FOX 11 was shown cellphone video of her son being thrown to the bathroom floor while two other students jumped him. At one point, students hurled racist insults.

His mother, who did not give her name, said she met with the school in the bathroom after the fight.

“They didn’t care,” the mother remembers. “Didn’t do anything for the other kids.”

Instead, according to her, the school offered to transfer her son to another school.

The knife attack led to the school being closed and two students ultimately requiring medical attention. Charges have since been filed against the woman’s son for assault with a deadly weapon, she said.

The lawyer representing the teenager argues he was only protecting himself.

FOX 11 reached out to LAUSD hoping to hear from the district, but a spokesperson said they would not comment on pending litigation.
