LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The first winter precipitation of the season is still expected here in Lincoln this afternoon and evening, albeit a little later than originally expected. Freezing drizzle/rain has already begun in parts of southeastern Nebraska.

This area of precipitation will expand and slowly move northward through the remainder of the afternoon into the evening hours. Here too, a winter weather warning is in effect until 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Valid until Saturday morning 9:00 a.m. Ice accumulation is likely.

With the switch to rain, ice accumulation will remain lower along the Kansas-Nebraska border, but areas along and north of I-80 and along and west of I-29 are expected to experience the highest amounts of ice. Isolated totals of 0.25″ remain possible and this will likely have some impact on traffic, particularly along Highway 77 north of Lincoln.
