Aaron Rodgers found a way to make a bad interception even worse on Sunday afternoon.

After throwing a pick in the third quarter of their game against the Buffalo Bills, the New York Jets quarterback attempted to make a tackle to limit the damage. But instead, Rodgers shoved Bills cornerback Christian Benfort long after he left the field. That resulted in a late hit penalty and moved the Bills even further down the field.

Rodgers didn’t really need to push Benfort at that moment. He was out anyway. Instead, the rare combination of interception and late score brought the Bills an additional 15 yards into Jets territory to start their drive.

The Bills then scored five plays later when Josh Allen hit Amari Cooper for a wild 30-yard grab, extending their lead to 19-0.

This catch pushed Amari Cooper over 10,000 yards receiving in his career. It was also Allen’s 40th touchdown of the season, a mark he has reached five years in a row. The Bills held a record of 12-3 entering Sunday. They have already won the AFC East and will clinch the second-best playoff spot in the conference behind only the Kansas City Chiefs.

Rodgers has struggled all season with the Jets, essentially his first with the franchise after missing last season just four games into a season-ending Achilles injury. The team started Sunday with a 4-11 record and has already been eliminated from playoff contention. They also don’t have a head coach or general manager after both Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh were fired last month.

Rodgers entered Sunday’s game at Highmark Stadium with 3,511 yards and 24 touchdowns with eight interceptions. His move to Benfort was his second of the day. The Jets then pulled Rodgers from the game in the fourth quarter after falling behind 40-0. Tyrod Taylor accompanied them the rest of the way. Rodgers threw 12 of 18 for 112 yards with two interceptions. He was fired four times.
