ABC News’ Marc Burstein is retiring after Donald Trump’s inauguration

Deregistration: ABC News Senior Producer Marc Burstein retires from the network after a career of over four decades. Burstein led the special events department, which covered such major events as the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the just-ended 2024 presidential election.

“After producing literally thousands of special reports and countless scheduled events, it is time for me to take a step back and sleep at night,” Burstein said in a memo to ABC News staff. He will step down after the inauguration of the president-elect in January Donald Trump and transition to an advisory role.

“I have had an extraordinary run and over the past 27 years it has been my honor and privilege to lead the special events team that covers the most significant events of our time,” Burstein noted in his closing note.

CNN International anchor Michael Holmes is also retiring after 28 years with the network. He hosted his last weekend show last Saturday and was surprised on set by his colleague – and Australian.Rosemary Churchwho made a special appearance to present a recap of highlights from Holmes’ time at CNN.
