The Grinch tried to steal Christmas in Baker County on Monday night but failed.

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office arrested the infamous green man for “an attempted robbery at Macclenny’s Christmas celebrations.”

Officials said witnesses saw the Grinch running away with bags full of stolen gifts, jewelry and even a whole roast beef.

“We have been monitoring the Grinch’s activities for years and tonight he finally crossed the line. Rest assured, Christmas is safe again thanks to the Bravo shift,” said Sheriff Scotty Rhoden.

According to the sheriff’s office, the criminal’s heart grew three sizes while in custody. He apologized and returned every gift.

Now officials are debating whether the Grinch should receive a reduced sentence or community service because of his literal change of heart.
