Adam Thielen comes to the game wearing Randy Moss Vikings jersey number 84

Thielen currently plays for the Carolina Panthers and wore the jersey before their game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Since Adam Thielen is from Detroit Lakes, it’s no surprise that he grew up supporting Minnesota Vikings receiver Randy Moss.

Some things never change.

Thielen is among a growing list of athletes showing support for Moss, who recently announced he was diagnosed with cancer. The Carolina Panthers receiver showed up to Sunday’s game against Dallas wearing the No. 84 Moss Vikings jersey while acknowledging fans outside Bank of America Stadium.

Moss appeared on Instagram Live on Friday and announced that he had survived cancer after a mass was found in his bile duct. He went on to say that he underwent surgery to have a stent inserted into his liver and then underwent a six-hour procedure to remove the cancer. Moss added that he has a long road ahead, which will include chemotherapy, but said he hopes to be back at ESPN as an analyst for “Sunday NFL Countdown.”

“All the prayers, the good wishes, I really felt that, my family felt that,” Moss said Friday. “We are definitely grateful for all the prayer warriors.”

Moss said he underwent a Whipple procedure, a surgery to treat tumors and other diseases of the pancreas, small intestine and biliary tract. According to the Mayo Clinic, the procedure included removal of the head of the pancreas, the first part of the small intestine, the gallbladder and the bile duct.

“The Whipple procedure is a complex surgery,” states the Mayo Clinic website. “It can pose serious risks. However, this operation often saves lives.”

Thielen, who played nine seasons with the Vikings, grew up with Moss as the Hall of Fame receiver helped inspire a generation of pass catchers.
