After the recent deadly tornado outbreak, the threat of severe weather is returning to the south

Areas of the South recently hit by a deadly tornado outbreak are at risk of severe weather again this weekend as cleanup efforts continue.

At least four people died when severe storms hit the south last weekend. Severe thunderstorms triggered dozens of tornadoes in at least seven states.

Due to this latest severe weather threat, residents in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi are preparing for stronger thunderstorms on Sunday.

The FOX Forecast Center said this new threat will emerge on the southern side of a strong winter storm that is expected to bring heavy snow and dangerous ice from the Plains to the Mid-Atlantic.

ADVICE FOR DEALING WITH STORM FEAR WHEN SEVERE WEATHER IS THREAT

The warmer southern side of the storm will have enough atmospheric energy and wind shear to allow the thunderstorms to rotate and potentially reach severe proportions.

It is still too far away to estimate the exact potential threat, but damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes are likely in the lower Mississippi Valley Sunday afternoon, with very cold temperatures possible shortly after these storms dissipate.
