Officials of the homeland protection and the FBI met on Wednesday with legislators of the state of New Jersey as part of an ongoing federal investigation on week -long unexplained drone sightings in the entire state that led to increased security concerns among residents, military personnel and state officials.

Although drones in New Jersey are legal, the mysterious origins of the aircraft – and their occasional proximity to military institutions – have led to demands for answers on the part of state legislators and also produced numerous theories among residents and civil servants.

The Pentagon rejected speculation on Wednesday that the drones could come from a foreign unit or an opponent. Dementi took place after the US MP Jeff van Drew, a Republican from New Jersey, told Fox News that the drones of “a mother ship” came from Iran, the “off the east coast of the United States of America” lies.

“Nothing is true,” said the deputy press spokeswoman for the Pentagon, Sabrina Singh, on Wednesday. “There is no Iranian ship off the United States coast and there is no so -called mother ship that starts drones towards the United States.”

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the sightings started on November 18 near Morris County, New Jersey.

According to military officers and state legislators, drones near the Picatinny Arsenal, a research institution of the US military, and over the golf course of the future President Donald Trump were spotted in Bedminster. The sightings caused the FAA to pass temporary flight restrictions on the properties.

Dawn Fantasia, a member of the State Assembly, said on X that she and other MPs from New Jersey were informed about the sightings at a meeting at the Headquarters of the New Jersey State Police.

“At this point I believe that military intervention is the only way forward,” said Fantasia.

According to Singh, the local law enforcement authorities have the authority to shoot the drones if they wish. She added that US military facilities always had the right to self-defense, but the drones have so far not been a threat.

CNN asked the FBI, the Ministry of Homeland and New Jersey State Police for more information.

This is a developing history and is updated.
