Al Roker reacts to his low chair height during Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Al Roker came up a little short at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year – literally.

As he sat at the anchor desk next to TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, Al’s chair appeared significantly lower compared to his co-anchors’ chairs.

Now, a few days after the celebratory event, Al explains how it came about.

“Oh and for the record I sat down in the chair literally :03 before the end of the commercial break and we realized the seat was too low,” Al captioned a Dec. 1 Instagram post in which he lowered sat as his co-hosts in the first picture.

The chair height was the subject of many jokes online as spectators watched the annual parade through the streets of Manhattan.

“The first thing I said to my dad when I saw this was, ‘I guess @alroker is at the kids’ table this year,'” one Instagram user commented on Al’s post.

But the TODAY weatherman and anchor is taking it all in stride.

“And it was. Funny!! That’s the beauty of live television, but thank you all for having my back. You guys are just another reason I’m grateful,” he wrote in his caption.

Al has become a fixture as one of the hosts of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year, he, Savannah and Hoda endured rainy weather and enjoyed performances by Jennifer Hudson, Kylie Minogue, Billy Porter and more. Al also appeared In the parade on the Tom Turkey float alongside Charli D’Amelio.

But it was his chair size that could have momentarily stolen the show.

“My boys and I laughed so much! Really professional!” said one commenter.

“We giggled every time you were all on TV and you were so depressed. Hehe. Thanks for the fun,” said another.

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle added that her mother closely monitored Al’s chair height and did her best to address it.

“Please note that Louise Ruhle insisted that I contact you during the broadcast to make you aware of the chair height,” commented Stephanie Ruhle.
