BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – How to do that was announced earlier this week Avoid charity-related scams. Now Alabama Power wants customers to know how to protect themselves from predators who want to steal from them.

The company says there are things it would never do when contacting customers.

If anyone is ever unsure whether a call or communication is a scam, the company recommends contacting them immediately.

The business number is (888) 430-5787 and is available weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Residential customers may call (800) 245-2244 weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m

They say not to call any other 800 number than those on the list Alabama Power website. And when you visit the site to pay a bill or find contact information, check the URL and make sure it’s just AlabamaPower.com.
