Alabama QB Jalen Milroe will enter the 2025 NFL Draft

A new starting quarterback will lead Alabama football next season. Jalen Milroe, who started the last two seasons for the Crimson Tide, announced his plans to enter the NFL Draft on Thursday.

He announced the news with a statement on social media.

“Soccer has always been my passion and since I was a child I dreamed of competing at the highest level,” Milroe said in the announcement. With every win, every tough loss, and every criticism along the way, my love and commitment to this game has never diminished. With each passing day, my gratitude grows ever greater for the opportunity to play the sport I love. With this in mind, I am declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.”

Milroe joined the Crimson Tide in the 2021 recruiting class. He beat out Ty Simpson and Tyler Buchner for the starting spot before the 2023 season and has started all but one game this year since.

He was a captain at Tuscaloosa for two seasons.

His final game came on Tuesday in the ReliaQuest Bowl, a game the Crimson Tide lost to Michigan. Milroe struggled early in the loss, picking up a fourth down sack, fumbling twice and throwing an interception on UA’s first four drives.

Milroe finished the year with 205 completions on 319 passes. He threw for 2,844 yards, with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

He also made an important contribution on the ground with 726 yards and 20 touchdowns.

The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to begin on April 25th.
