Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe receives the Campbell Trophy

LAS VEGAS (WIAT) — Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is the recipient of the 2024 William V. Campbell Trophy.

Milroe won the award Tuesday, which the National Football Foundation announced at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The redshirt junior was one of 16 finalists for the trophy, which is awarded to the nation’s best player in terms of combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership, according to the National Football Foundation.

Milroe, a two-time team captain, will also receive a $25,000 postgraduate scholarship from the National Football Foundation. The Katy, Texas, product graduated cum laude last December with a 3.52 grade point average and will earn his master’s degree in sports management this month.

He was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll three times and was on the University of Alabama President’s and Dean’s List. According to the university, Milroe has volunteered in Tuscaloosa and his hometown.

Since his first official game with Alabama in 2021, Milroe has recorded a total of 77 touchdowns, 5,824 passing yards and 1,570 rushing yards.

Barrett Jones is the only other player in Crimson Tide history to receive this honor. The former center won it in 2012.
