Huntsville, AL – Heavy rain continues across northern Alabama this morning, raising concerns about localized flooding and hazardous road conditions. Rainfall rates of up to 0.75 inches per hour are expected by sunrise, particularly along major routes such as I-565 and US-231. Motorists are asked to exercise caution due to standing water on the roads.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rain is moving east but will continue across the region through early Sunday. The rain is expected to ease by mid-morning, with cloudy skies and maximum temperatures of around 18°C ​​expected later in the day. Gusty winds of up to 25 miles per hour can also affect travel.

Looking ahead, Sunday evening will see mostly clear skies and cooler temperatures, falling to a low of around 47°F. Monday offers a break in wet weather with sunny conditions and highs around 63°F. However, isolated showers may return from Monday night to Tuesday morning, accompanied by cloudy skies and maximum temperatures of around 15°C.

On New Year’s Eve, Huntsville residents can expect dry weather and partly cloudy skies, with highs of 48°F during the day and lows as low as 28°F overnight. This clear trend will continue into New Year’s Day, bringing sunny skies and fresh conditions ideal for outdoor celebrations.
