On Sunday, January 5, the 42-year-old actress stunned in a custom red Balenciaga dress, which she paired with black opera gloves.

According to an Instagram post by style correspondent Zanna Rossi, the dramatic ruffles on Wong’s dress required an unusual technique. Alongside a photo of the comedian posing in a strapless look, Rossi notes that “the tulle tendrils need to be curled with a curling iron.”

Styled by Tara Swennen, the actress also wore her signature statement glasses.

Wong is nominated for her Netflix stand-up comedy special Single lady. Last year, Wong made history when she became the first woman of Asian descent to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress in the Limited Series or TV Movie category – recognized for her acclaimed performance in the Netflix series beef.

She said Hader got her number from a mutual friend and left it all on the table, writing, “I’ve always had a crush on you, and in fact I told my best friend years ago that you were my dream woman.” He even sent her flowers when she was on a trip to Europe – although Wong said she dated for a bit before she ended up with Hader.

“I fell in love again,” Wong said in her special. “Some of you may know who the guy is. And he happens to be the man who sent me all those flowers to Europe.”

The two comedians were briefly linked in 2022, a source said The Hollywood Reporter in March 2023 that they were “super busy” and had parted ways “amicably.”

But Hader fueled rumors that resurfaced when he mentioned his girlfriend during the fourth season premiere of his HBO series Barry in April 2023 – although he did not use Wong’s name. PEOPLE confirmed that the couple got back together shortly after, and a few days later, the duo made their public debut as a couple when they were photographed kissing while strolling in Los Angeles.

Over the past year and a half, the couple has made a few public appearances together, including at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards and the Netflix Emmys afterparty in January 2024.

Still, Wong insisted that her divorce from Hakuta did not mean the end of her relationship with her ex-husband. In fact, the opposite is meant: at a performance in October Today with Hoda and JennaShe said that although people might see a divorce as a “sad ending,” that wasn’t the case for her.

“It’s been this beautiful beginning to many new adventures, and one of them – sincerely – is friendship with the father of my children,” Wong said. “Every relationship has value and you learn something new from each person about what you like and what.” You don’t like that.
