Allison Janney, Sarah Paulson and others react to Linda Lavin’s death

After Linda Lavin passed away on Sunday at the age of 87, tributes poured in from her co-stars and industry collaborators.

Lavin became known as a character actress for her Emmy-nominated work on the CBS comedy series “Alice,” which ran from 1976 to 1985. In recent years she has appeared in “The Intern” alongside Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway and in “Being the Ricardos” with Nicole Kidman.

Liz Feldman, creator of the Netflix show “No Good Deed,” which starred Lavin, paid tribute to Lavin on Instagram. She wrote: “It was an honor and a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with you. I loved writing about “9JKL” for you all those years ago. I just loved YOU. Be near you. In your magnetic orbit. The fact that we were able to work together again on “No Good Deed” was simply a gift. As always, you were incredibly kind, totally funny and absolutely perfect. Ready to play and full of life. Her warmth and kindness were unparalleled. I just loved you. We all did that.”

Lavin also appeared in two episodes of the CBS sitcom “Mom.” Allison Janney, who starred alongside Lavin, wrote on Instagram: “She was a queen on TV, she was kind, generous and it was an honor to star with her…Linda Lavin, we will miss you.” I’m sending Love to her family and friends.”

Sarah Paulson also took to Instagram to talk about her fond memories of Lavin, sharing a picture of the two together performing a production of “Collected Stories” that Paulson had framed. She recalled a story when the window jammed within the first five minutes of the play and Lavin suggested to the crowd that they simply restart the production.

“The audience was beside themselves with laughter and applause,” Paulson wrote. “That was essentially why she was untouchable as a performer – she knew the audience had seen the window collapse, so we couldn’t carry on as if it hadn’t happened – so we fixed it and started over – and they stayed with us.”
