According to Tavares police, Jace Saunders was allegedly kidnapped by his grandmother, Kelly Dasilva, on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities said Tavares police officers and Florida Department of Children and Families officers responded to a home on Tara Drive on Sunday to remove Jace from the care of a relative and turn him over to DCF.

“Jace was not at the residence and was on a golf cart ride with a family friend, Mitchell Morris,” police said in a news release. “The relative called Mitchell Morris and told him to return with Jace. However, “Mitchell Morris met Kelly Dasilva near a park and handed Jace over to her.”

Mitchell was arrested on charges of interfering with custody.

Police confirmed that Jace’s parents, Taylor Judy and Brandon Saunders, were also arrested on child custody charges “for failing to cooperate with law enforcement in attempts to locate their son.”
