United Flight 2434, which departed Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) at 3:42 p.m., landed safely in Tampa at 4:35 p.m. after pilots alerted dispatchers and requested an emergency runway space. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, was carrying 123 passengers and five crew members when the precautionary diversion was implemented.

A United Airlines spokesman described the emergency landing as a proactive response to a possible technical problem. Tampa International Airport dispatchers confirmed receipt of a specific message about the open door indicator light, which prompted the immediate landing procedure.
