American Airlines flight returns to airport after ‘possible maintenance issue’

An American Airlines flight was forced to turn around and return to a Chicago airport after a “possible maintenance issue” in mid-air, the airline told Fox News Digital on Sunday.

American Airlines Flight 1047 was en route from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Las Vegas when the incident occurred, an American Airlines spokesman said.

“Flight 1047 returned to ORD due to a possible maintenance issue,” the spokesman said. “The flight landed safely and taxied to the gate.”

The airline did not initially provide any details about the possible maintenance problem.

FlightRadar24 data showed the Boeing 737-800 received multiple door warning light displays, the New York Post reported.

The airline told Fox News Digital that customers have since flown from Chicago to Las Vegas on a replacement aircraft.
