Analysts prefer Eagles over Baltimore Ravens

For several weeks in a row, the Baltimore Ravens have been the analysts’ favorite regardless of opponent. Well, that streak is now broken.

The Ravens face another big test on Sunday against the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles, who have won their last seven games by an average of 15.3 points per game. Philadelphia has a strong balance between offense and defense and could pose their biggest challenge of the entire season.

The experts clearly agree on this. Of the 54 experts the Ravens website surveyed, 31 predicted the Eagles would continue their hot streak on the road. This is the first time in a long time that a majority of analysts have decided against Baltimore, even if it’s only a slim majority.

While many expect both offenses to go blow for blow, the Eagles’ superior defense gives them an advantage. Combine that with the slow starts and other unforced errors the Ravens are prone to, and it’s understandable why so many chose the team in green.

“There is talent everywhere for these two offenses,” wrote Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun, who predicted a 24-21 Eagles win. “The separator will obviously be on defense.” Baltimore’s continues to give up yards little by little. Philadelphia is No. 1 in the league in yards allowed per game (274.6) and No. 2 in yards allowed per game (4.7). The Eagles are also balanced when it comes to running and passing, allowing just 99.2 rushing yards and 175.5 passing yards per game. A slow start and self-inflicted wounds will be costly against a team like the Eagles.”

On the other hand, some analysts noted that the Ravens are the best team the Eagles have faced in this winning streak. With arguably the best offense in the league, Baltimore could give Philadelphia problems like no other team has in the last two months.

“Philly has become a juggernaut over the last seven weeks — but it hasn’t yet faced a challenge as big as stopping Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry,” wrote NFL.com’s Tom Blair, of a 27-25 win who predicted Ravens. “ Of course, Baltimore hasn’t faced a bigger challenge than stopping Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley. (I’m not quite ready to take Jayden Daniels and the Commanders’ ground attack, which the Eagles and Ravens have each defeated this season, to that level.) But the Ravens feel a little more battle-tested.”

The Ravens are coming off a big win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football, and if they want to win their second game in a row, they will definitely have to earn it.
