Ananta gets a new trailer with toilets running through its urban, open world

Ananta, the recently renamed Mugen project, has received a brand new trailer that features a mix of cutscene and gameplay footage, including what appears to be ultimate animation.

Developer Naked Rain has also opened pre-registrations for the game on its official website, so the pre-release marketing campaign appears to be finally getting going – good news for fans of the genre who have been so taken with what Ananta has shown so far.

It appears that the key art shown at the end of the trailer, which also serves as a thumbnail, reveals Ananta’s main character in both her male and female forms, confirming that players will be able to make this choice at the start of the game.

The urban open-world RPG will allow players to use superhero-like powers to traverse the city – the energy cords used to swing through the air undoubtedly give Spider-Man vibes – and features a fully functional vehicle system. His world appears to contain “chaotic” forces that sometimes get a little wild and then need to be contained, such as the two-legged walking toilets seen in the trailer marching down a street like a group of ostriches that have escaped a zoo.

While the trailer hints at moments of seriousness, the overall tone is certainly quite lighthearted.

“Welcome to Nova, the sun-drenched coastal hub perfect for leaving winter behind,” reads the location’s official description. “This city is electric – whether you’re street surfing at Paradox Plaza or marathon gaming sessions at Glimmergold, there’s never a dull moment. And with humans and chaos living side by side, you never know what crazy turns your adventure could take! Pro tip from the Nova Tourism Board: Getting into chaos gone wild? Report first, then take selfies! Have fun, but stay healthy!”

Naked Rain’s upcoming game will likely clash with Hotta Studios’ Neverness to Everness, which features a similar urban setting and atmosphere – fans of free-to-play anime RPGs should find this showdown intriguing.
