Anthony Richardson’s touchdown run gives the Colts an early lead

DENVER – The Indianapolis Colts are early on the schedule in their biggest game of the season.

Quarterback Anthony Richardson scored on a 23-yard touchdown run on the Colts’ first drive, finding the right edge against the Denver Broncos defense and sprinting untouched into the end zone to give the Colts a 7-0 lead with 10:52 left to get the first quarter.

The play was made possible by the Broncos’ defense being compromised by a fake handoff to Jonathan Taylor and a physical block by wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. on Denver cornerback Pat Surtain II at the edge.

After reaching the end zone, Richardson stared at the Broncos fans sitting in the corner of the end zone as he celebrated his score.

The Colts and Broncos are battling for playoff position, with the Broncos entering Sunday two games ahead of Indianapolis for the final wild-card spot in the AFC.
