AOC suggests subway riders should be afraid of Daniel Penny

Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said New York subway riders should be afraid of Daniel Penny after he was found not guilty in the chokehold death of Jordan Neely — sparking a swift backlash from straphangers , which called the left-wing lawmaker “delusional.”

Penny, 26, was acquitted of all charges by a Manhattan jury on Monday following last year’s high-profile trial over the fatal, caught-on-camera encounter with the troubled homeless man on an uptown F train.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said New York subway riders should be afraid of Daniel Penny.

“If we don’t want violence on the subway and the purpose of our justice system is to ensure a certain level of responsibility to prevent a person from having no remorse when they take another person’s life,” he said Progressive, according to a clip posted on social media during the trial that has been viewed more than 540,000 times.

“I mean, even people who have committed homicide or accidentally taken a life express remorse,” she continued.

“The fact that a person has not expressed remorse indicates the risk that something like this could happen again. And if we don’t want to unleash this level of violence, we should take some level of responsibility to prevent it.”

Neely, 30, died after Penny, a Marine veteran from Long Island, held him in a chokehold for six minutes on May 1, 2023, after he began yelling and threatening passengers on a crowded subway, frightening them.

Penny and other witnesses claimed that Neely said he didn’t care if he went back to prison and said he was willing to kill.

Before the high-profile trial began, Penny was asked by the Post whether or not he would do it again.

He nodded and said, “I would – if there was a threat and danger in the present.”

Penny was acquitted by the jury of involuntary manslaughter after the more serious charge of involuntary manslaughter was dismissed by prosecutors last week after the 12 jurors deadlocked.

Straphangers quickly jumped to Penny’s defense, slamming Ocasio-Cortez and calling the Marine veteran a hero.

“You should rename this the Daniel Penny line. “The only safe subway in New York,” proclaimed one person on X.

“No honest person believes we need fewer people willing to protect work and children from attacks on the subway,” another added.

“AOC continues to amaze me with her utter stupidity!” a third blasted.
