AP poll of top 25 college football rankings released after conference championships

The latest AP Poll top 25 rankings are in after conference championship weekend, and there were some upsets after another wild series of games.

We immediately had some classic games and outstanding performances. This all leads to the College Football Playoff, but we still have one more ranking to reach!

Let’s take a look at the latest AP Poll top 25 rankings following conference championship weekend.

Oregon defeated Penn State 45-37 in the Big Ten Championship to claim its first conference title in a new home. At 13-0, Oregon is now the only undefeated team in the country.

The Ducks are locked in at No. 1 in both the rankings and No. 1 in the College Football Playoff. What a season for Dan Lanning and his crew.

Georgia defeated Texas for the second time this season, this time 22-19 in overtime in Atlanta, to take the SEC crown. Since this caused a stir, Georgia faces a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Texas will weaken and fall a bit, but this was impressive from the Bulldogs. Carson Beck injured? No problem. Gunner Stockton did enough to direct the offense.

Notre Dame stayed home and didn’t let not having a conference championship game stop them. At 11-1, the Fighting Irish essentially got a week’s bye before hosting a playoff game.

Given the way they play, this could be one of the most dangerous teams in the country. After all, they won 10 games in a row!

Texas had its chances and man, that hurts. The Longhorns’ overtime loss drops them into the first round of the playoffs, at least they’ll host a game.

But they’ll be thinking about that for a while, considering they’ve already lost to Georgia twice this year. The Longhorns have national championship quality but have been more shaky in the second half of the season.

Penn State fell short of its second Big Ten title under James Franklin and its first since 2016. The Nittany Lions had their chances, but turnovers doomed them and they couldn’t overcome Oregon’s 45-point win.

Still, Penn State will make the playoffs and will likely host a first-round playoff game. There is still a chance to make this season special.

Ohio State was licking its wounds after the loss at Michigan, but they need to get the situation back on track quickly. The Buckeyes are close to hosting a playoff game and still need to do a little more work to win a national title.

Still, everyone knows how talented this team is. But it’s about actually bringing it all together in the biggest moments of the season. The pressure is on Ryan Day.

Tennessee was another team sitting at home just thinking about where they were going in the playoffs. The Vols came just shy of traveling to Atlanta to play for the SEC title this season.

They’ll likely go on the road in the first round, but this could be a dangerous force. If the offense can pick it up again, don’t rule out a run for this team.

Ashton Jeanty went for the Heisman Trophy and helped Boise State win the Mountain West. It looks like the Broncos will get a first-round bye and represent the Group of Five.

This is a really good football team led by their superstar running back. Aside from a loss to Oregon, Boise State has won every single game and is 12-1 heading into the postseason.

Indiana was another team that sat back and knew they had already done enough to make the playoffs. At 11-1, Curt Cignetti is in serious consideration for Coach of the Year.

But despite the record, Indiana could face a road game to open the playoffs. Yet this team has played like a top 10 team virtually all year.

Arizona State! Look at this! Cam Skattebo made his own Heisman argument by leading the Sun Devils to a dominant win over Iowa State.

In their first year in the Big 12, Arizona State was picked to finish last in the preseason. Well, they finished first and should get a first-round bye in the playoffs.
