Severance pay Fans just received a big holiday gift from Apple TV+, as the streamer recently released the first eight minutes of the season two premiere ahead of its debut in January.

The opening begins with Mark Scout (Adam Scott) traversing the endless hallways of Lumon Industries in a confused panic as he learns that some aspects of the building have mysteriously changed. He ends up back in the macro data refinement department to find that his colleagues are gone, replaced by a new team, before the menacing Milchick (Tramell Tillman) comes in and invites him to his new office, where Cobel used to be before he was fired.

From there, Milchick explains to Mark that the Macrodata Refinement team has become international celebrities and is being called the new face of “severance reform.” He finds that the rest of his team has refused to return to Lumon, although Mark doesn’t seem to believe that. He insists to Milchick that he would like to hear from the rest of the team, but Milchick tells him, “That’s not possible.” The eight-minute clip ends there on an eerie note.

What to expect in Season 2 of Severance

Although Milchick would like Mark and the audience to believe that the Macrodata Refinement team is gone, the popular actors portraying Helly (Brit Lower), Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan (Zach Cherry) will return in the second season. Michael Chernus, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, Dichen Lachman and Jen Tullock will also reprise their roles from the first season. The second season also adds newcomers Gwendoline Christie, Sarah Bock, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Alia Shawkat to the cast.

True to the nature of the series, plot details are kept relatively under wraps, but series creator Dan Erickson recently hinted at what will happen in the long-awaited second installment. According to a previous report, Erickson explains that the second season will be even darker as Lumon Industries is now on the defensive.

““We really wanted to take our heroes to a scarier place because Season 1 ends with them poking the bear,” Erickson said. “They form this little rebellion and can achieve some success with it, but the question is.” with season 2 was: What happens if the bear sneaks back? What are the consequences of this victory? I think, without giving much away, The consequences are dire.”
