Arizona State wins Big 12 and reaches College Football Playoffs

In the latest edition of the State of the Sun Devils podcast, Jeremy Schnell, Jesse Morrison and Damon Allred react to Arizona State football’s advance to the College Football Playoff with its 45-19 victory over Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship.

Cam Skattebo had another great performance on his way to winning the Most Outstanding Player title. The Sun Devils running back had 16 carries for 170 yards and two touchdowns. He also had two receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Sam Leavitt didn’t miss a beat with star wide receiver Jordyn Tyson out. Leavitt was 12 of 17 through the air for 219 yards and three touchdowns. He added 45 yards on the ground.

ASU (11-2) is undoubtedly headed to the College Football Playoff. There is a chance the Sun Devils could receive a bye in the first round. They could also host a first-round game if they are seeded No. 5 to No. 8. Worst case scenario is that ASU has to travel in the first round.

The selection show is scheduled for Sunday at 10 a.m. MST and will air on ESPN.
