Arizona State football’s Shamari Simmons delivered a big hit on Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht in the Big 12 championship game on Saturday. However, this would cause him to miss the first half of the Sun Devils’ upcoming College Football Playoff game.

With Arizona State holding a commanding 45-10 lead at the Big 12 Championship in Arlington, Texas, Simmons pushed Becht to unblock him and delivered a huge hit that had to be aimed. Simmons, the Sun Devils’ fourth-leading tackler this season entering Saturday’s game, will now miss either the first round or quarterfinals of the 12-team CFP, depending on Arizona State’s inevitable placement in the group.
