Arizona Weather Forecast: Windy conditions in Phoenix with temperatures in the 70s

Temperatures are expected to rise back into the high 70s this weekend and next week.

PHOENIX – Our mild December weather continues!

On Thursday afternoon, high temperatures in the valley reached 75 degrees and there was a light breeze Phoenix. Gusts can reach speeds of up to 15 mph.

Stronger winds are forecast for the highlands. In fact, gusts of 30-35 mph are expected around Flagstaff and up to 30-40 mph in Show Low and the White Mountains. The increasing winds are due to a cold front moving across the west coast and inland to the west through Friday.

The wind gets stronger ahead of the front Arizona. Cooler air enters the state behind the front.

The front will not bring rain or snow to Arizona. However, cooler temperatures will bring Phoenix back into the upper 60s on Friday. Morning temperatures will also be cooler in the lower deserts, with lows in the 40s around the valley Friday morning as well as weekend mornings.

This weekend a ridge will begin to redevelop, allowing afternoon high temperatures to climb back into the low 70s. Winds will remain lighter and a mix of sun and clouds is forecast for Saturday and Sunday. Perfect conditions for outdoor plans!

Warm air will continue to hang over the Southwest next week, resulting in high temperatures into the mid-70s for much of next week.
