Arkansas meets Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl on December 27th

Texas Tech and Arkansas will meet in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium on Dec. 27, the bowl announced Sunday afternoon.

It will be the 38th meeting between the two teams. Arkansas has the edge at 29-8, but Texas Tech won the last meeting in 2015.

The Razorbacks (6-6, 3-5 SEC) showed positive momentum under coach Sam Pittman, but lost their final three SEC games of the season. On October 5, they earned a decisive victory against Tennessee.

It’s a quick return to the Liberty Bowl for Arkansas, which beat Kansas 55-53 in a wild three-overtime game in 2022. It will also be a preview of next season when the Razorbacks visit Memphis.

Meanwhile, the Red Raiders (8-4, 6-3 Big 12) won their last two games, including a 52-15 win over West Virginia in the regular-season finale. Texas Tech played in the 2021 Liberty Bowl and defeated Mississippi State 34-7.

The game begins at 6:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN.

It’s a return to the SEC vs. Big 12 format the game normally uses. Last season’s game pitted Memphis against Iowa State because the SEC didn’t have enough bowl-eligible teams.
