Arkansas running back Braylen Russell is withdrawing his name from the transfer portal

Arkansas freshman Braylen Russell has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal, sources confirmed to HawgBeat on Tuesday.

Russell officially entered the portal on Tuesday afternoon, but just over two hours later he changed course and is expected to return to the Razorbacks for the 2025 season.

Russell, a 6-foot-3, 253-pound Benton native, was a highly touted four-star prospect out of Benton High School and preferred the Hogs over Arizona, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, South Carolina and others.

This season, Russell totaled 304 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 47 carries for the Razorbacks. His best game came at Mississippi State when he ran the ball 16 times for 175 yards during Ja’Quinden Jackson’s injury break.

An injury sustained against the Bulldogs, as well as the return of Jackson and the emergence of Rashod Dubinion, resulted in Russell finishing further down the rankings, although he showed promise as the game increased. Russell did not play in Arkansas’ last three games.
