Armed barricaded subject leads to lockdown in Antioch

On Saturday evening, Antioch police issued a lockdown order for a portion of Antioch after shots were fired during a call and a person was barricaded in a home.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, a local warning system alert went out asking people to seek shelter near Country Hills and Knoll Park Circle in Antioch.

According to preliminary information, Antioch police originally responded to Knoll Park Circle around 6:25 p.m. for a report that multiple shots had been fired. Then a man entered a house and didn’t come out. A loud loudspeaker could be heard asking the person to leave the house with their hands raised.

“No one was shot. We received a ShotSpotter activation where multiple shots were fired. It appears that the boyfriend shot his girlfriend. The girlfriend and children are uninjured and safe, but the man may now have barricaded himself in the apartment,” said Chief Brian Addington.

According to neighborhood residents, five to eight shots were heard at the time of the shooting.

Police did not provide any further information and it is unclear whether anyone was injured.
