Armed robber steals prescription drugs from Clayton Walgreens

CLAYTON, N.C. (WNCN) – A suspect is at large following an armed robbery at a Walgreens in Clayton early Tuesday morning, police said.

According to the Clayton Police Department, the robbery occurred at the Walgreens at 11306 US Highway 70 Business West.

Police said the suspect passed a note demanding prescription medication at the pharmacy counter and displayed a black handgun. More than 1,000 dosage units of prescription medications were stolen. No money was taken.

The suspect was described as a man wearing a multi-colored black and white T-shirt with “Stay Alive” printed on the front, a gray undershirt, black Adidas sweatpants, a baseball cap, glasses and an N-95, according to the Clayton police covered his face with a mask. It is believed he changed clothes in a nearby parking lot and fled through downtown Clayton on a motorcycle.
