Rickey Henderson, a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and a legendary former Athletics player, died Friday, NBC Sports California confirms. Henderson, 65, holds Major League Baseball’s all-time record for stolen bases with 1,406. He was named American League MVP in 1990 and is also a two-time World Series champion (Oakland A’s 1989; Toronto Blue Jays 1993). Nicknamed the “Man of Steal,” Henderson played 14 of his 25 MLB seasons with the Oakland A’s and is considered one of the greatest players in franchise history.
