Congratulations to Mike Penix Jr.!

The Atlanta Falcons quarterback proposed to his girlfriend, Olivia Carter, on Christmas Eve, the couple announced on Dec. 29. In a joint Instagram post, the two shared sweet photos from their special evening.

Penix’s proposal included lots of red roses, a collection of red candles and giant block letters that read “MARRY ME.” Carter carried a huge bouquet of roses as she and Penix approached the sign.

“The sweetest love ❤️ Olivia and Michael December 24th, 2024,” they captioned the post.

Her commitment was met with huge support from friends, family and fans in the comments.

In a solo post also published on December 29th, Penix posted a video of the offer creation. The quarterback waited next to the large letters as Carter approached, looking more excited with each step. He handed her the bouquet and began to ask the question.

“I want you to know that I love you with all my heart,” he told Carter in the video before getting down on one knee. “I told you that I would love you forever. I promise you, I will.”

After Carter happily said yes, their loved ones joined them to celebrate the couple.

Penix and Carter have been together for many years, Sports Illustrated reported. Carter also has a sporting background – she played on the University of Nevada women’s soccer team, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology.

The Falcons quarterback began his college time with the Indiana Hoosiers before moving to the Washington Huskies in 2022. Penix was the Falcons’ eighth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
