HOUSTON – New photos from Fox News Digital offer a look inside the Houston home of Bourbon Street Killer Shamsud-Din Jabbar.

Photos from inside Jabbar’s mobile home in a predominantly Muslim neighborhood in north Houston showed several copies of the Koran, a book about Christianity and a book about teaching children about Islam.

Jabbar, 42, rammed a white truck into a crowd of New Year’s revelers in New Orleans around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday. He then began shooting at police officers, who returned fire, killing Jabbar at the scene. The rampage, which is being investigated as a terrorist attack, left 15 people dead, including Jabbar, and more than 30 people injured.

Jabbar, who served in the U.S. Army for 13 years, including a tour in Afghanistan, flew an ISIS flag on his truck during the attack and took inspiration from the Islamic State.

The FBI and a SWAT team from Houston searched Jabbar’s home early Thursday morning. The team took the front door off its hinges and cracked it open, revealing much of the living room, kitchen and a glimpse of a bedroom.

From outside the porch, Jabbar’s living room could be seen, left in a state of disarray by police officers who searched the house. A black suitcase lay scattered on the floor and on the other side of the wall was a dart board and a fake fireplace.

Neighbors next door described Jabbar to Fox News Digital as a quiet, respectful neighbor who was devoted to his Islamic religion. A bookshelf near the front door appears to support his religious devotion, containing several copies of the Koran and books on Islam, as well as one on Christianity.

On the opposite side of the house, Jabbar had a raised desk with a computer and a can of pepper spray, among several other items. There was also a green military-style backpack lying near the kitchen.

Jabbar was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas and lived in a rented mobile home in Houston. The house is located in a neighborhood between several other mobile homes and RVs, just about a seven-minute walk from the Masjid Bilal Mosque and the Darul Arqam Islamic School.

Much of the area is in an extremely dilapidated state: dilapidated houses, parts of the street have been torn up and there are rubbish and stray animals all over the street. There were several ducks and chickens running around in Jabbar’s garden, and there were several goats in another garden nearby.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified told Fox News Digital that he saw Jabbar loading a white pickup truck outside his Houston home on Tuesday, the morning before the attack in New Orleans, where he rammed the truck in New Orleans Celebrant of the year. The neighbor said he spoke with Jabbar, who told him he had found a job and was moving to Louisiana. The neighbor said he was under the impression that Jabbar had gotten another job in information technology.

“Stunning, I was shocked, someone grabbed the carpet under my feet, I was just too shocked, unbelievable. ‘This really happened?'” the neighbor said. “Like I said, we still don’t believe, we still don’t believe that this is the person, there’s just no way, it can’t be that way.”
